Course Description:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is one of the best-known approaches within the so-called “third wave” of behavioral therapies. It is evidence-based, internationally established, and can be applied transdiagnostically across a range of contexts.
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to ACT through experiential exercises, complemented by theoretical input and discussion. The course is aimed at people working in helping professions or currently undertaking professional training in these areas.
The workshop is designed for participants without prior knowledge of ACT. It is also suitable for more experienced practitioners who would like to practise and deepen their understanding of ACT in a group setting.
Dr. phil. Jae Villanueva is a federally recognised psychotherapist, researcher, and co-founder of the Swiss Institute for Sustainable Health (SING) in Zurich. Her research focuses on ACT in the context of social interactions and everyday life in transdiagnostic patient populations. She is also engaged with topics including climate change, feminism, and intersectionality.
Dr. med. Jan Martz works in private practice as a psychiatrist and ACT therapist in Winterthur and Zurich. He has done intensive training in ACT since 2006, and the contextual behavioral sciences have enriched both his personal and professional life in many ways. He has facilitated various ACT workshops, both independently and together with other trainers. He has practised meditation in the Zen tradition for many years, which is why the mindfulness aspect of ACT has always been particularly important to him.
